GINGERBREAD, HAYRIDES AND HOLIDAY CHEER
Christmas Activities Lining Up at Pigeon Lake
Friday, November 18, 2011
Pigeon Lake is an environment made for Christmas. Surrounded with snow-dusted gentle giant spruce and fields of unbroken snow, the pristine landscape is enriched only by the communities' Yuletide decorations, joining together in preparation of holiday festivities and boundless community Christmas spirit.
The storybook charm of the Village at Pigeon Lake (VPL)is at its best at Christmas time with its traditional, country-style community celebrations and activities. Nothing feels more Christmasy than a good old-fashioned horse drawn hayride, which the Village hosts every year. Mark your calendar for November 26th, December 2nd and December 3rd for a free hayride tour around the village between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m.
From November 12th to December 3rd, a spectacular display of trees, wreaths and table centrepieces can be seen at the Festival of Trees Room (formerly Mia Casa Furnishings). Open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, tickets are on sale to win a fully-decorated Christmas item and all proceeds from ticket sales go to support the Pigeon Lake Santa's Elves.
VPL's Customer Appreciation Party will be held Friday, December 2nd, at 5:30 p.m. with Santa due to arrive at 6:00 p.m. Anyone who has attended the Village's Appreciation Christmas party in previous years knows of the many attractions and fun-filled events that make up the party. In addition to horse drawn hayrides, there is a bonfire and wiener roast, store draws, fireworks, and pictures with Santa.
The party continues on Saturday, December 3rd, kicking off with a fabulous pancake breakfast hosted by the Village Creek Country Inn and catered by Daisy McBeans between 8 and 11:30 a.m. (Tickets $8.00 at Alberta Treasury Bank or at the door), followed by a day filled with live entertainment by Cooper Studios and all kinds of fun including:
Home Decor Demonstrations – 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. (Tickets $5.00 at Country Sampler)
