Leduc Waste Reduction Fair


On June 5-6 from 4-8 p.m. at the Leduc Recreation Centre the Leduc Environmental Advisory Board (LEAB) celebrated environment week with a waste reduction fair. People had a chance for giveaways and free refreshments while learning about Leduc’s waste reduction program.
Staff members and volunteers from LEAB were present to explain to interested parties the Leduc’s Environmental Plan Phase 1. Individuals that attended the fair were offered the opportunity to pick up free rain gauges and shower timers along with a chance to enter in draws for a rain and compose barrels.
Leduc’s Environmental Sustainability Coordinator, Kerra Chomlak was present to answer questions from the public about the Environmental Plan and explain some of the charts that were available for viewing.
Also available for viewing were the Organic and Waste bins that will be made available to residents in September by the City of Leduc. The goal is to reduce landfill items from the current level of 83% to 46% by 2013 and to less than 30% by
