Queens’ 60th Jubilee Celebration in Ma-Me-O Beach

It was a blustery day on September 2, 2012 when the Heritage Canada sponsored Jubilee event was held at Ma-Me-O Beach.  Minister of Environment and Sustainable Resources Development Diana McQueen braved the elements to celebrate the Queens 60th Jubilee.  The wind off of the lake sent chairs across the park and the helium balloons flew sideways rather than up.  Councillor Pete Langelle MC’d the event and attendees who braved the winds enjoyed presentations from Minister McQueen, long-time local resident Yvonne Adair, and Royal Canadian Legionnaire Dave Wilson.   Deputy Mayor John Slater read the proclamation which dedicated the park in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with its’ new name “ Jubilee Park”. Everyone enjoyed cake and coffee and the opportunity to celebrate this auspicious occasion.
