CRIME OF THE WEEK

In the morning hours of Oct. 13, 2012, an unknown suspect(s) stole a John Deer backhoe from a construction site near 49 St. and 51 Ave.  The driver is believed to have traveled down 50 Ave. in Wetaskiwin to the Strip mall on 48 St.
The driver entered into the parking lot and ran the bucket of the backhoe into the exterior of the Curves of Women’s business causing

extensive exterior and interior damage.  The driver backed the machine up and continued south slamming the bucket of the backhoe again into a parked van on the property of Chapman Electric.
The driver fled the scene and left the backhoe with the van suspended on two wheels.  Minimal damage was done to the van.  However, extensive structural damage was caused to the shed on the property that enabled the van from tipping sideways.
