An ELEVATOR MINUTE in the Region

a personal view on this region’s assets

As the Elevator Minute last week spread the word on two wonderful Christmas Craft Sales taking place in our region, I must bring the spotlight unto another that had its location changed at the last minute… The SNOWFLAKE EMPORIUM will take place this weekend, Saturday and Sunday November 3rd and 4th, at CLIFF’s Landscaping’s new Gift Shop, on Rolleyview Road, just minutes east of Leduc city limits.
With 23 artisans displaying their wares, it will be a busy show, and I am excited to share that a new author will be in attendance on both days, from 11am to 4pm, signing her book…
Leduc County resident AJ Myrfield has written a book on the sensitive topic of bullying: titled “A Dagger of Souls”, it is the first in a series of six books described as “urban fantasy”.  I am told by several friends that it is a great read, and I can’t wait to get my own copy, signed by the author of course! (lovelightcreations.com)
On the topic of local authors, I read a fascinating little book recently, written by a Millet author: “Success is so simple, Most won’t do it!” is a compilation of wise thoughts and friendly advice written by a likable guy, and it’s an easy and enriching read. I will announce soon where you can purchase this little book, and perhaps you know Jason (Jake) Lever, the author…?
Talking about local artists, I can’t wait to be updated on the artistic project initiated by painter Susan Abma of Leduc County who, with the cooperation of two other artists, is creating an impressive collection of portraits of fallen Canadian soldiers… Living on a dairy farm makes for a busy lifestyle, and when you add marriage, motherhood and ART, it makes for a crazy schedule, no doubt!
If you’re shopping for Christmas crafts and gifts this weekend, please remember to bring a Food Bank donation to the Christmas Extravaganza at Christ the King School, on Rolleyview Road, this Saturday (Nov.3rd, 12-8pm). See you there!
