Veronica Hayden, a Leduc resident who herself suffers from diabetes, is putting on this ladies night out to have a great time, and raise funds for diabetes research with her trip to Iceland to run in the Conquer The Crater event.

The Conquer The Crater race in Reykjavik Iceland is run by Team Diabetes for the Canadian Diabetes Association, and 2013 will be the 6th year this annual race has taken place. There are three different lengths to the race that runners can decide on depending on their level of training. They can choose to hike either the 6k, 14k, or 24k routes. Veronica has chosen to tackle the 24k route which will have her beginning in a glacial canyon before ascending to two different craters.

In order to participate in this race Veronica has to raise $6,100.00 for the Canadian Diabetes Assoc., so this fun ladies night is just one of the ways that she is attempting to raise those funds. All donations will be going to the CDA and tax receipts will be available for those who want them as well. You can find out more about the Conquer The Crater race at www.conquerthecrater.com.

Tickets for the event are $25.00 each and available at the door on that evening. Once inside ladies will be treated to a burlesque demonstration, a belly dance performance by dancers from Raq-A-Belly dance troupe in Edmonton that includes some audience participation as well, a silent auction, door prizes and a Lia Sophia jewellery representative showcasing some of their product.

So ladies, if you are looking for a way to get your groove on this Saturday, I highly suggest you head down to the Lion's campground in Leduc, have a couple of adult beverages to build up your courage, and shake both your booty and belly for a great cause!
