A local, family-owned roofing business is holding an open house in Mulhurst Bay May 28 to let property owners know what options are available to them.

Wolff Roofing is no stranger to Mulhurst Bay, as the family-owned business from Leduc has a strong presence in the County of Wetaskiwin and Pigeon Lake area.

Owners Ralf and Astrid Wolff, who originally hail from Germany but have been local business owners for many years, told The Pipestone Flyer their roofing business, which offers a number of products and services not commonly offered by other companies, has grown throughout the years from strong word-of-mouth references. Their work in the Pigeon Lake area came about the same way.

Astrid, who handles the office side of the business, said she hears so many people talk about taking care of their property, but doesn’t hear as many people talk about their roof, which could be the most important part of the home.

She also said that Wolff Roofing is proud to be a local, family owned business that is fully insured, follows all safety codes and stands behind all the work they do, adding that door-to-door type salesmen can’t always provide proof of their insurance or their warranties.

At the open house, Wolff Roofing will be offering insight into the various products and services they offer, including European engineered eavestroughing (superior to traditional systems when it comes to preventing leaks), rubber shingles, metal roofing and traditional asphalt. Astrid said some homeowners don’t know the wide variety of options available to them and noted weather conditions in Pigeon Lake can be a bit different from time to time than other communities.

The owners noted that they plan to have samples on-site for examination, and will have two guest speakers, including quality Rubber Roofing, a green approved product that has the best hail rating and combines very well with the no-leaking maintenance free European Eavestrough.

Astrid noted Wolff Roofing will have a German food truck offering bratwurst and schnitzel, coffee, ice cream and cake.

The open house will be held May 28 at the Mulhurst Bay Books & Gifts, across from the community centre from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
