Body found inside burnt vehicle in Stettler’s rural area

The RCMP responded to a complaint of a burnt vehicle on Saturday morning, Dec. 10 around 11:43 a.m.

Once on site, their investigation revealed that there was a deceased person in the vehicle.

According to Cpl. Laurel Scott, the vehicle was not in flames when the RCMP reached the site, but they are yet to determine as to the gender of the deceased and other whereabouts.

“For any further information we would have to do an autopsy, which has been scheduled for tomorrow,” Cpl. Scott said.

The autopsy will be conducted on Monday at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary.

RCMP Major Crimes are assisting Stettler RCMP with this investigation.

There is no further information available from the RCMP at this time as this investigation is in the preliminary stages.
