This one is for my in-laws and friends from the Maritimes. My in-laws liked it better than their brown bread.

Enjoy.

Molasses Bread

1 c. warm water

2 tsp. sugar

2 pkg. yeast

1 c. scalded milk (cooled)

3 c. warm water

6 tbsp. margarine

1 to 1 1/2 c. molasses

4 tsp. salt

10 - 12 c. flour

Combine first three ingredients and let stand 10 mins. Combine all other ingredients except flour. Add flour one cup at a time until no longer sticky. Let rise about 1 1/2 hrs. Punch down and let rise once more. Make into loaves and let rise. Bake at 400 F. 30 to 35 mins. Makes two large loaves.
