Prime Minister makes mockery of Canadian rights

Justin Trudeau seems to contradict election promise

Dear editor,

When Justin Trudeau was campaigning to become Prime Minister of this country he assured the voters that he embraced the concept of tolerance and that it would be a hallmark of his government’s policies.

Well his latest decision to deny funding to any non-profit organization that does not embrace the world view that abortion is a human right is a complete aberration of his election promise.

Canada is a democratic nation and in an egalitarian society people are allowed to have different world views. For the Prime Minister to impose his world view on the entire country changes the principle of Canada from a democracy to a dictatorship. The free people of Canada did not elect him to be a dictator.

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms Guarantees the citizens of Canada:

• Freedom of conscience and religion

• Freedom of thought, belief and freedom of expression

For the Prime Minister to deny certain segments of Canada’s population these rights is a complete travesty and displays blatant intolerance on the Prime Minister’s part.

Even though Mr. Trudeau was elected Leader of this country he does not have the right to deny an individual or a group of individuals their right to freedom of conscience and religion, or the right of belief. In refusing organizations access to funding he is in fact telling them that unless their “conscience” aligns with his they have no protection under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Our Prime Minister has made a complete mockery of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and even people who are pro-abortion proponents find his stance absolute wrong and totally unpalatable.
