Good Neighbour Cake

This is an old recipe that was passed down so many times that I can’t remember where I got it but it is a good one.

4 cups apples, peeled and thinly sliced

1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1 cup flour

3/4 cup sugar

3/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 egg well beaten,

3 tsp. Water

1/3 cup evaporated milk

1/2 cup melted butter, cooled

Preheat oven to 325°. Place apples in a 9 inch round, well buttered baking dish. Sprinkle half cup of sugar and cinnamon over the apples. Next sprinkle the pecans over the apples. In a mixing bowl, safe together the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In another bowl, combine the egg, water, evaporated milk, and melted butter. Add the egg mixture all at once to the flour mixture. Mix until smooth pour the batter over the apples. Bake for about one hour or until golden in at 325 oven.

Enjoy your good neighbour cake with a friend.
