Enriching Your Marriage

One of the most popular non-denominational marriage courses in the world is about to start at Leduc Alliance Church, and there is still room for couples to take part. The Alpha Marriage Course does not require a person be affiliated with any church, have a strong belief system, or even be legally married.

"We have had a complete range of couples come and take the course. From couples that are living common law, to newlyweds, to people that have been married for 35 years. At any point in life it is always valuable to learn how to enrich your relationship." said Sarah Haberman, one of the course facilitators, along with her husband Al. "God is talked about in the Alpha Marriage Course but it's definitely not a 'religious' program, and the last thing that we are as facilitators is 'preachy'!" laughed Sarah. 

This will be the fifth time that the Haberman's have run the course through Leduc Alliance, and they have had a wealth of experiences during their sixteen years of marriage to draw from. "We have a real passion for marriage." stated Sarah. "The new 'in' thing really should be to have a strong relationship, and we love helping couples work toward that. But, I need to stress that this is not a counselling course. That's not what we do here. This is a course where you work one on one with your partner to improve and strengthen the relationship that you have."

Some of the topics that the Alpha Marriage Course covers are building strong foundations, the art of communication, resolving conflict, the power of forgiveness, and (Sarah laughingly admitted this session usually drew the most interest) good sex.

The Alpha Marriage Course will be starting on Wednesday, September 26th, but even if you miss the first session, couples are still welcomed to join. A nominal fee is charged of $15.00 for the entire course, and it runs every Wednesday night for eight weeks from 6:30-8:00 pm at Leduc Alliance Church.
