Have you ever wondered about Meatless Mondays? Do you like salads but are unsure that you could live on a constant diet of them? Have you ever thought of trying a vegetarian or vegan diet but didn't know where or how to start? Well wonder no more, as there is a free course on vegetarian and vegan cooking that will be taking place in Leduc on March 10th that will answer all those questions and more!
Facilitated by Vanessa Dudar and Liela Elias, two long time vegetarian/vegan cooks, they are putting on a two hour course for anyone who is interested in removing meat from their diet in a healthy way.
"There is an overwhelming amount of statistics that show being vegetarian is a much healthier lifestyle than eating meat." said Vanessa. "As well as being easier on the environment."
Being a lifelong vegetarian, Vanessa actually began giving cooking demonstrations at the tender age of 12. "I think a lot more people would be interested in going meatless if they just knew what to do with the food available. I tried raw tofu once and it was gross!" she laughed. "It's not about eating salads 24/7, there is actually a plethora of foods available to you on a vegetarian diet. It's not about focusing on what you can't have but rather on everything you can."
There will be tons of samples available to try, as well as recipes to take home, door prizes and a question and answer time. The course will be taking place from 3-5 pm on Sunday March 10th. There is no cost but participants are asked to bring a donation for the Leduc Foodbank.
"It's amazing what you can learn in just two hours. Going vegan is really not so scary!" Vanessa said with a smile.
