The Knights of Columbus presented a cheque for $200 to the Sign of Hope campaign.  Pictured making the presentation are Danny Gavan, the Financial Secretary for the Knights of Columbus; Father Nilo Macapinlac, the priest serving the Wetaskiwin, Hobbema, and Ma-Me-O Beach Parishes; Dave Dowler, Sign of Hope Sign-up Chair for the Wetaskiwin-Camrose region; Thomas Bukkems, Grand Knight; Carole Anctil-Michalyshyn, Signs of Hope Campaign Chair for all regions in central and northeastern Alberta from Red Deer to Edmonton to Lloydminster; Henry Effon, Knights of Columbus Secretary.

The Wetaskiwin Boston Pizza gave an evening to support the 2013 Sign of Hope campaign to raise funds for Catholic Social Services.  The restaurant gave 10 per cent of all sales that evening as well as 20 per cent of pizza sales and all tips to Sign of Hope.  Pizza shaped paper Slices of Hope were also sold as donations with the donors' names written on the slices identifying them as “...is a slice of Hope!  Helping People in Need” then displayed on the wall around the cash register.  The presentations  of donations to the Sign of Hope from the Catholic Women's League, the Knights of Columbus, and the Wetaskiwin Lions' Club were also photographed at Boston Pizza.  It was a very busy evening with more than $6,000 dollars contributed to Sign of Hope.  Dave Dowler, the owner of the Wetaskiwin Boston Pizza, was also the Sign of Hope Sign-up Chair for the Wetaskiwin-Camrose region, and one of his  employees, Carole Ancril-Michalyshyn was the Sign of Hope Campaign Chair for all the regions in north-east-central Alberta.

Sign of Hope is the fund-raising arm of Catholic Social Services which offers more than 100 programs to help people of ALL faiths and cultures in Edmonton and many other communities.  The 2013 Sign of Hope campaign is highlighting the La Salle program which is described as “a 'second-stage' shelter for mothers and children leaving abusive situations.  After they leave 'front-line' emergency agencies, La Salle provides clients a safe place to live and the time and support they need to break out of the cycle of violence and achieve independence.”  The support includes counselling and needs associated with FASD.  Catholic Social Services are based in Christianity with its emphasis on human well-being, dignity and respect for all.

Sign of Hope very much appreciates the Wetaskiwin Boston Pizza and the tremendous support it receives from the owner, management, staff and customers.
