“Once a volunteer, always a volunteer” pretty well describes Don Forth’s life. As a young father he started out coaching his son’s hockey teams before becoming a hockey referee officiating youth and then “old timers”. Don was always interested in stock car racing and in 1968 he was part of the founding group of the Wetaskiwin Stock Car Club (WSCC).

County of Wetaskiwin youth participated in the Hockey Hooky for Ben fundraiser this week and their efforts have helped raise over $3,000 for the Ben Stelter Fund and the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The 5th annual West of the Fifth Poker Run is still tallying the fundraising numbers, but they can report that this year’s event has been the biggest one to date.

In January and February, Canadians make their final savings contributions for the tax year.
