Candidates for the upcoming Federal Election on Sept. 20, 2021, answered the Pipestone Flyer’s questions to give voters a better idea of who is running for them.

VCP candidate Travis Calliou:

Why do you want to be a local representative for this party?

TC: To bring a local person who will give the constituents a voice after election day and to bring truth, duty, honour, integrity, and accountability back into politics.

If somebody was to ask you ‘why should I vote for you’ what would you say?

TC: I represent the constituents first and foremost, we are mandated to put constituents back into the decision making process, free to vote for constituents not a dictator party leader. What works in Ontario or Quebec doesn’t work for Albertans.

What is your professional political experience and how do you feel it would lend to your time in office if you are elected?

TC: I have no political experience, I am an ex soldier, 10 years with the PPCLI and the RCEME. A retired mechanic who has travelled North and South America extensively working in the Oil Sector. Everywhere I have been its the same complaint, “we have no representation after election day, all we get is broken promises and the cost of living goes up, wages don’t unless you’re a MP”. Veterans Coalition party is a party that works for the constituents not that dictator party leader. I personally dislike the label “politician” it spews liar and corruption. I much prefer “representative of the Constituents”.

Which of your party platforms do you feel will impact the local area the most and why?

TC: Re-evaluate foreign spending, China and Russia both get tax-payers money, these two countries have a eight billion dollar economy and two trillion economy respectively. Two billion to India for affordable housing, what about Canadians lack of affordable housing?

If elected what are your priorities while in office?

TC: My priorities if elected would be to Vote NO on the ridiculous gun ban, that shot gun you use to hunt ducks, geese and other game birds is illegal. I would fight to develop and refine our own resources instead of importing 19 billion from Saudi Arabia. I would fight to claw back MP’S wages by 30 per cent (yes I know they voted themselves a 3 per cent pay raise) that cut would save taxpayers over 12 million per house sitting.
