Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a wind warning across Central Alberta early Thursday morning.

Strong northeast winds are expected to gust to 90 km/h and bring snow, said the warning for much of Central Alberta issued at 4:40 a.m. Thursday. A number of communities in the region are also under a snow squall warning.

"The combination of strong wind and snow may cause poor visibility in some areas due to blowing snow," says Environment Canada.

"Winds will weaken by Friday morning. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Motorists, especially in high profile vehicles, may expect hazardous driving conditions on highways subject to strong cross winds."

Environment Canada warns drivers to be prepared to adjust driving as road conditions change and to continue monitoring alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
