A 'hold and secure' incident took place at Ecole Lacombe Junior High School on March 19.

In a letter to parents from Wolf Creek Public Schools, it was noted that, "An individual who is not a student of our school entered school property and was observed banging on an exterior door while in possession of a weapon.

"School staff immediately contacted the police, who responded quickly to the situation," said Principal James Matthie.

The letter pointed out that as a precautionary measure, the school was placed momentarily in a lock-down and then in a 'hold and secure' once it was confirmed the individual was outside the building.

"A hold and secure means all students and staff remain safely inside the building while the situation is assessed and managed. No students were harmed.

"The police arrived promptly, they apprehended the individual, and are now conducting a full investigation."

Mattie said he wanted to reassure parents and guardians that the safety of students and staff are of top priority.

"Our staff and students followed emergency protocols effectively, and we are grateful for the swift response from law enforcement."

More to come.
