UPDATED: Maskwacis RCMP employ Search and Rescue to locate missing elderly man

Rowan was in “good spirits” when found

In an effort to locate missing 73-year-old Harry Rowan, Maskwacis RCMP sought assistance from Red Deer Search and Rescue (SAR). Late yesterday afternoon, Harry was located in very dense bush in a muskeg area where he was unable to free himself. Harry was reported to be in good spirits when located.

The RCMP employed their Air Services and then engaged Red Deer SAR.

“A huge thanks is due to the SAR team for their successful efforts” says Inspector James McLaren, the Detachment Commander of Maskwacis RCMP. “This positive outcome is a large reward for the team, the RCMP, the community and the family.”

ORIGINAL STORY

The Maskwacis RCMP are seeking assistance to locate 73-year-old Harry Rowan. Harry was last seen on the afternoon of August 13, and he may have been on his way to Wetaskiwin on Highway 13. Harry frequents the Wetaskiwin area.

Harry is described as:

- Indigenous

- 5’6” tall / 223 lbs. - Has tattoos on his forearms

- Brown hair / brown eyes / mustache

- Last seen wearing black clothing and possibly a blue checkered button up shirt

Harry may require medication and the RCMP as well as Harry’s family have a concern for his wellbeing.
