A Central Alberta teacher and father of two, soon-to-be three, young children has tragically passed away at the age of 29.

Red Deer's Josh Reimer, a teacher at Rimbey Christian School, lost his life following a two-vehicle collision near Bentley just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22.  A Sylvan Lake RCMP release noted that preliminary investigation suggested poor road conditions were a contributing factor to the collision.

"Josh was a loving husband, a devoted father, a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and amazing teacher," states a GoFundMe page that was launched for the Reimer family on Wednesday, April 23.

"Anyone who had the privilege of knowing him would tell you the same. Josh had the kindest soul, always quick to lend a hand, lift a spirit, or share a laugh. His faith guided every part of his life, and he touched more hearts than we will ever fully realize."

The GoFundMe page, created by Taryn Sparrow, has already raised more than $100,000. The online fundraiser has a set goal of $160,000.

Reimer is survived by his wife Shanyn and two daughters, aged three and 23 months. The couple also had another child on the way — the baby is due in July.

"There is nothing Josh loved more in the world than the Lord, his wife and his children. The pain of his passing is immeasurable, but so is the love he poured into his family, community, church, and classroom," states the GoFundMe page.

"We are raising funds to help ease the financial burden for Shanyn and family. Covering funeral expenses, medical costs, and most importantly, helping provide for the future of Josh’s children. Any contribution is deeply appreciated. If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this page to help us reach others who may want to support. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your prayers, your generosity and your love during this incredibly difficult time."

Austin Bueckert, Reimer's brother-in-law, and a fellow teacher at the school, was also in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Bueckert was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital where he is currently receiving care for his injuries.

Rimbey Christian School is also starting a fund Bueckert’s family to support him in his needs. Donations can be dropped off at the school office or etransfer to business@rimbeychristianschool.com with a memo that says "Austin."

"We appreciate all of your prayers for the school. Cards may be dropped off at the school any time and we will be sure to pass any condolences on to Josh and Austin’s families," states a post on Rimbey Christian School's Facebook page.
