1 in 18 people in Maskwacis have COVID-19

COVID-19 cases multiplying in Maskwacis; City and County of Wetaskiwin numbers up.

Numbers continue to rise in the County and City of Wetaskiwin as well as bordering communities including Maskwacis.

On the Government of Alberta’s COVID-19 aggregate data map, the County of Wetaskiwin currently has 33 active cases of COVID-19.

The City of Wetaskiwin currently has 96 active cases. The City is also reporting two COVID-19 deaths.

Yesterday in a post from the Ermineskin Director of Emergency Management, Greg Minde, for Ermineskin Cree Nation relayed the concerning statistic that 1 in 18 people in Maskwacis have COVID-19 according to current statistical numbers.

Maskwacis currently has 311 active cases and three COVID-19 deaths. Dec. 23, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will be the last day to get tested before Christmas in Maskwacis, according to Maskwacis Health Services. Testing will be available again this Saturday and Sunday.
