15th annual Bullridin' and Bootscootin' coming to the Lakedell Ag Society

The bullriding and cabaret event will be held on March 15

Don't miss your chance to get in on the action and toe-tapping good time at the Lakedell Agricultural Society's 15th annual Bullridin' and Bootscootin' event on March 15.

The event will be held at the Lakedell Agricultural Society hall, located west of the Village at Pigeon Lake.

"It's been a sold-out event for three years in a row," said Lakedell Ag Society office administrator Kim Hughes.

"There are still some tickets left but they're going fast."

The doors will open at 6 p.m., with and the bulls will start bucking at 7 p.m.

The World Professional Bullriding sanctioned event will feature 30 of the toughest bull riders around, followed by a licensed cabaret with Dustin Farr taking the stage with a five-piece band.

The riders will compete in a long go and then the top six will come back to ride again.

Last year's event had a purse of $4,000 added money, a trophy buckle and a jacket.

Farr gave acoustic performances for the ag society before at their spring barbecues, and they're looking forward to having him back with a band to back him up, said Hughes.

Alcohol will be available for purchase during the dance.

South Pigeon Lake Fire Department will be providing safe rides homes via donation for those that need it after the event.

"We're always really happy that they come out and do that for us," said Hughes.

"This is the biggest fundraiser we do each year so we're really thankful for all the sponsors and volunteers that come out to put it on."

Last year about 1,100 came out to the event and the society raised over $20,000 in profit.

Proceeds of the event goes towards their general operating costs and keeping up the facilities, said Hughes, adding they're hoping to raise about the same this year.

Hughes said the Lakedell Agricultural Society is grateful for the support of the community for the event over the past 15 years.

Tickets are $30 each and are available at Westerose ATB, Wetaskiwin ATB, Backstreet Antiques, the ag office and online at www.lakedell.org.
