The City of Wetaskiwin’s 2021 municipal budget deliberations have been scheduled for mid-February 2021 following a postponement of their original date.

Budget deliberations were originally set to take place in the last quarter of 2020 but were postponed until the 2019 financial statements have been audited, a step that the City says is necessary to understand their current financial position.

“I’d like to thank you for your patience as we waited to have our 2019 audited financial report completed before we started our 2021 budget deliberations,” said Mayor Tyler Gandam. “This will ensure that we are making informed decisions while maintaining transparency throughout our budget process.”

Wetaskiwin City Council will deliberate the 2021 municipal budget on February 17, 19, and 22, 2021.

Wednesday Feb.17, 2021 and Friday Feb.19, 2021 the budget deliberations will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or later if necessary.

Budget deliberations on Monday Feb.22, 2021 will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Budget deliberations will only be available for virtual attendance. Due to public health measures and gathering restrictions in-person attendance will be limited to those presenting budget information to City Council.

The City’s budget information can be found at www.wetaskiwin.ca/budget and links to the virtual meetings will be posted there once they are available.
