Alberta RCMP Major crimes investigate homicide in Breton

Sudden death of Wetaskiwin County woman ruled a homicide; one charged and arrested

A homicide investigation is underway after Breton RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at a rural location in the County of Wetaskiwin on Nov. 25.

The deceased woman was identified as 44-year-old Wetaskiwin County resident Janet Magnuson.

As the investigation continued officers from the Central Alberta District GIS Unit and Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit stepped in.

As a result of the investigation Wetaskiwin County resident Corey Anderson, 44, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Dec. 16.

Anderson was taken before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is set for Dec. 20, 2022, at Drayton Valley Provincial Court.
