AMCA Wetaskiwin hosts successful spring dinner and dance

'Our sense of community is what drives us'

Alberta Minorities Community Association (AMCA) Wetaskiwin had a good turnout for their first annual Spring Dinner and Dance fundraiser on May 31.

A total of 285 people came out for the family-friendly event, held at the Wetaskiwin Agricultural Society hall, raising about $2,000 for the association, said AMCA vice president Pastor Antonio Garcia.

The proceeds of the event will help support the association's goal of starting a drop-in senior's care centre.

The event also brought in food donations for the Salvation Army's food bank.

"We had an amazing turnout with many new and familiar faces," AMCA posted on their Facebook page.

"Our sense of community is what drives us and ensures that we’re able to make these events as special as they are."

AMCA is already planning their second annual New Year's Eve party, set for Dec. 31, 2025. Tickets will be going on sale in August or September.

Anyone interested in volunteering for AMCA is asked to email them at albertaminoritiescommunity@gmail.com.
