Friday’s media event to officially announce that Black Gold School Division will be receiving full funding from the provincial government for a second high school in the City of Leduc has been cancelled.

This event is not being rescheduled at this time. Instead, a news release regarding the full funding announcement will be distributed Friday, March 13, 2020.

The provincial government has cancelled all public announcements/meetings where groups of people are invited due to COVID-19.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hinshaw also announced today that the provincial government is asking for all large gatherings or international events in the province to be cancelled. According to the announcement, schools and daycares can remain open but steps should be taken to ensure that no more than 250 individuals are in the same room at any given time.

Black Gold School Division will continue to monitor the situation and keep families and staff informed of any new announcements.

It is recommended that the public continues to monitor the Alberta government’s COVID-19 coronavirus website. It is the source of the most up-to-date information for Albertans.
