To further aid provincially mandated social and physical distancing protocols, the City of Wetaskiwin has designed a walking direction schedule for By-the-Lake Park.

As a scenic option to get fresh air, By-the-Lake Park in Wetaskiwin is a popular choice for residents to walk, bike and run.

The City decided to post the walking direction schedule after receiving a series of citizen requests imploring that something of the nature be put in place.

The schedule is designed to encourage residents to further practice physical distancing when in By-the-Lake Park. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday the direction to follow is clockwise. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday the direction is counter-clockwise.

By-the-Lake Park is currently the only park in Wetaskiwin with a walking direction schedule.

In addition to the schedule, the City of Wetaskiwin encourages individuals to self-police and make sure that they are giving everyone their own space.

It is currently mandated by the Government of Alberta to maintain a distance of at least six feet whenever you are in public and to limit the amount of people you come in close contact with.

When ensuring proper physical distance from others in public spaces such as By-the-Lake Park the City of Wetaskiwin asks that people be kind to one another in this difficult situation.

The City of Wetaskiwin also requests that if you see anyone not complying with public health orders in a manner that causes risk of exposure or spread of COVID-19 to report the situation to Alberta.ca/covid19. To report a high-risk situation where many people could be affected, please contact the Enforcement Services department at 780-361-4401 ext.1.
