City of Wetaskiwin’s flags were lowered on July 17, 2021, for the weekend to honour the recent loss of a member of the Wetaskiwin Fire Service from medical complications.

“This is a tremendous loss for our community and fire family,” said City Manager Sue Howard. “Our thoughts are with everyone impacted and the City stands with you during this difficult time.”

The City’s flags were at half-mast for the entirety of the weekend. Anyone wishing to extend their condolences to the members of Wetaskiwin’s Fire Service are invited to send them to fireservices@wetaskiwin.ca.

“The Wetaskiwin Fire Services is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own,” said Fire Chief of Wetaskiwin Fire Services, Jamie Wilkinson.
