City of Wetaskiwin nearing 100 active COVID-19 cases

Positive cases of COVID-19 are on the rise again in the City and County of Wetaskiwin.

As of the Sept. 20, 2021, update, the City of Wetaskiwin is rapidly climbing towards 100 active cases of the virus. Currently the city has 91 active cases and nine COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The County of Wetaskiwin is reporting 71 active cases and has had six virus deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In alignment with provincial restrictions, all buildings and facilities in the City and County of Wetaskiwin are required to have anyone accessing them wear a mask.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) currently has Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre as an outbreak location. An outbreak was declared at this location on one inpatient unit on September 11. To date only one individual has tested positive for COVID-19.

Points West Living supportive living facility in Wetaskiwin is also named as an outbreak location.

Maskwacis Health Services is reporting 79 active cases in Maskwacis and 18 virus deaths since the start of the pandemic.
