The County of Wetaskiwin has completed upgrades to the G3 Resource Road on Township Road 460 between Highway 2A and Range Road 240, and north on Range Road 240 to Highway 613.

This road network was upgraded to support the increased traffic and usage created by the newly established G3 Grain Terminal.

The G3 Road upgrade was a two-year project that involved widening, upgrading the base of the road and paving.

The work also involved a significant upgrade to the intersection of Highway 613 and Range Road 240. This new road will now be able to handle significant truck traffic and the county estimates it will last for 25 years before needing additional upgrades.

The total cost of this project was $7.1 million and was entirely funded by grants provided by the Government of Alberta. These grants included the Resource Road Program and the Municipal Sustainability Initiative.

“The County is pleased we were successful in receiving significant grant funding to complete this project,” stated Reeve Josh Bishop. “The G3 Grain Terminal not only supports our agricultural community but it is also a significant development within our Region.”

G3 Canada also supported this project by upgrading the intersection of Highway 2A and Township Road 460 and upgrading Township Road 460 from Highway 2A to the entrance of their facility.
