The County of Wetaskiwin now has four active cases of COVID-19. This increase follows the update of provincial cases that have been confirmed over the Labour Day long-weekend.

The City of Wetaskiwin, separate from the County of Wetaskiwin on the Government of Alberta’s aggregate data map, now only has one active case. The City of Wetaskiwin has 14 recovered cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

In her Tuesday press conference, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw expressed her concern over the rising number of cases in the province, which are currently the highest they have been since May.

Alberta reported 154 new cases Friday, 171 on Saturday, 137 on Sunday and 157 on Monday, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 1,692.
