COVID-19 death in the City of Wetaskiwin

Cases continue to rise across Central Alberta and province.

At Friday’s Nov. 20, 2020 COVID-19 update Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw said, “our current situation is grim.”

Friday the province recorded 1,155 new cases and 11 additional deaths out of approximately 17,000 tests over a 24 hour period. Dr. Hinshaw says the provincial positivity rate is now 6.5 per cent.

In the new numbers released the County of Wetaskiwin sits at 21 active cases and the City of Wetaskiwin currently has 46 active cases.

The City of Wetaskiwin also has one COVID-19 death; the first in the City during this pandemic.

Maskwacis Health Services updated the COVID-19 cases numbers for Maskwacis on Nov. 20, as well. Maskwacis currently has 116 active cases and 1 COVID-19 death.

There are 310 in hospitals for COVID-19 across the province, 58 of which are in the ICU.
