Two people are facing several charges after police found crystal meth, multiple firearms, magazines and a stolen vehicle at a Louis Bull First Nations property.
Maskwacîs RCMP say they were attempting a traffic stop on April 12 but the vehicle sped off instead of stopping. Police tracked the vehicle to a residence, where two individuals were observed fleeing the car into the residence.
Through the abandoned car's window, police saw drug paraphernalia and what they suspected was methamphetamine. They obtained a warrant to search the vehicle and residence and found several firearms, including what looks like an AR-15 rifle, along with multiple magazines and ammunition, as well as a stolen vehicle.
“The Maskwacis RCMP would like to thank community members and leadership from all 4 Nations of Maskwacis and their continuous to support in helping get illegal firearms away from the community and out of the hands of those who are using them for illegal purposes,” said detachment commander Insp. Richard Mckay, adding police were investigating the origins of the firearms.
Bryatt Threefingers, 28, of Louis Bull First Nations, is charged with four counts of breaching firearms prohibitions, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of flight from a peace officer and one count of driving while unauthorized. He remains in custody.
Tracy Crier, 19, of Louis Bull First Nations, faces multiple firearms charges. She has been released on conditions.
Both will appear in Alberta Court of Justice on April 15.
