Leduc area man arrested following local shooting

On May 19, 2022, Leduc RCMP General Investigation Section alongside the Leduc Drug Unit and Crime Reduction Unit, Central Alberta District General Investigation Section and the RCMP Emergency Response team executed a search warrant on a residence in Leduc County resulting in one arrest and the seizure of drugs.

On May 19, 2022, Leduc RCMP General Investigation Section alongside the Leduc Drug Unit and Crime Reduction Unit, Central Alberta District General Investigation Section and the RCMP Emergency Response team executed a search warrant on a residence in Leduc County resulting in one arrest and the seizure of drugs.

The investigation was in response to a local shooting after a male victim showed up to the Leduc Community Hospital with a gunshot wound May 17, 2022, suffering from serious injuries. The victim was transported via ground ambulance from Leduc to Edmonton.

As a result of the search RCMP arrested Corey Robert Landry, 33, of Leduc County and charged him with 16 offences including:

• Aggravated assault;

• Discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life;

• Pointing a firearm;

• And possession of a controlled substance x3.

The search also resulted in the seizure of 20 grams of fentanyl, 70 ml of GHB, 200 pills of prescription medication and three grams of methamphetamine.

The incident is believed to be targeted and that there is no risk to the public.

Landry was remanded into custody following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and is scheduled to appear in Leduc Provincial Court on June 2, 2022.
