Leduc RCMP charge 2 in mail theft investigation

Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction Until (LCRU) have charged two people following an investigation into mailbox theft in Leduc.

LCRU identified two people on Nov. 24 through video surveillance image captures connected to break-ins to mailboxes that took place between Nov. 21 and Nov. 23.

With the assistance of the Leduc Drug Unit and General Duty members, LCRU executed a search warrant at a Leduc residence and recovered a large quantity of stolen mail and a stolen wallet. Police also seized break and enter tools and a small quantity of fentanyl.

Two Leduc residents, Roger Cooley Mccann, 41, and Lori-Anne Elissa Nixon, 38, face multiple charges as a result of the investigation.

Mccann was arrested and charged with:

• Break and enter to commit theft x2;

• Mischief x2;

• Theft from mail under $5,000 x2;

• Possession of break-in instruments;

• Failure to comply with release order condition;

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000;

• And possession of a controlled substance – fentanyl.

Nixon was charged with break and enter to commit theft, theft from mail under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000. Leduc RCMP’s attempts to locate Nixon have been unsuccessful and they have obtained a warrant for her arrest.

She is described as:

• Five-feet-one-inch tall;

• 119 lbs;

• Green eyes;

• And black hair.
