Leduc RCMP Drug Unit investigation leads to drug trafficking charges

Leduc RCMP Drug Unit began an investigation into possible drug trafficking in the Leduc County area this April in partnership with Edmonton ALERT and Beaumont RCMP Drug Unit.

Leduc RCMP Drug Unit began an investigation into possible drug trafficking in the Leduc County area this April in partnership with Edmonton ALERT and Beaumont RCMP Drug Unit.

With the assistance of the Leduc Crime Reduction Unit, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the area of Leduc County on April 23, 2021. As a result of the investigation police seized a small quantity of cocaine, methamphetamine and cash.

Douglas Herman, 63, of Leduc County was charged with the following:

• Trafficking- cocaine x2;

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking x2;

• Proceeds of crime x2.

Michael Sweeney, 50, of Edmonton was charged with the following:

• Trafficking- cocaine x2;

• Proceeds of crime x3.

Michael Eufemia, 63, of Leduc County was charged with the following:

• Trafficking- cocaine x2;

• Proceeds of crime.

Following judicial interim release hearings, Sweeney and Eufemia were released from custody to appear in Leduc Provincial Court on May 13, 2021 and Herman was released from custody to appear in Leduc Provincial Court on May 27, 2021.
