Leduc RCMP Drug Unit lay charges for drug trafficking

With the response of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), this June the Leduc RCMP Drug Unit conducted an investigation into drug trafficking activity within Leduc, Alta.

On Aug. 31, Leduc RCMP Drug Unit with the assistance of Leduc Detachment members, Leduc Crime Reduction Unit, the General Investigation Section and the RCMP Police Dog Services executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of 47 Street and 47 Ave in Leduc.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, several digital scales and drug packaging.

“This investigation is an example of excellent collaboration between the local RCMP detachment and our specialized units,” says Cpl. Fred De Billy, Leduc RCMP.

“It demonstrates to those thinking they can introduce these dangerous and illegal drugs into our communities that we won’t tolerate it.”

Victoria Jean Spears, 31, of Leduc has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) and possession of proceeds of crime.
