Leduc RCMP lay charges in relation to stolen truck

After conducting traffic stops in the area of 50 Ave in Leduc, Alta., two Leduc residents have been arrested and charged in relation to a stolen truck and seizure of drugs.

After conducting traffic stops in the area of 50 Ave in Leduc, Alta., two Leduc residents have been arrested and charged in relation to a stolen truck and seizure of drugs.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. a member of the Alberta RCMP Traffic-Leduc unit was conducting traffic enforcement on 50 Ave when a license plate of a truck in the area showed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Camrose on Feb. 13, 2023.

The driver and passenger were arrested, and a search connected to the arrest resulted in the seizure of 28.6 grams of methamphetamine and a small quantity of cocaine and fentanyl.

As a result of the investigation Leduc resident, Kiara Lynne Nathan, 24, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Following a judicial hearing she was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Leduc provincial court on March 23, 2023.

Lori-Anne Elissa Nixon, 39, also a resident of Leduc, was charged with:

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking — Methamphetamine;

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine;

• And possession of scheduled substance – Fentanyl.

Nixon was released from custody following a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in Leduc Provincial court on March 23, 2023.
