UPDATE: Leduc RCMP on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision

Traffic flow has resumed in the area of Highway 814 and Township Road 502 in Leduc County, Alta., following two collisions the morning of Jan. 31, 2022.

Preliminary investigation by the RCMP Traffic Analyst revealed that a pickup truck was travelling north bound and collided head on with a south bound SUV one mile south of the intersection fo Highway 814 and Township Road 502.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 75-year-old male from Beaumont, Alta., was assessed for injuries by EMS and released on scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old female from Edmonton, Alta., was transported to the local area hospital with minor injuries.

A second collision occured between responding emergency vehicles and as a precaution the three occupants of the ambulance were transported to a local area hospital.

Leduc RCMP and an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigat the cause of the collisions. However, road conditions and road closures in the morning are believed to have been a contributing factor.
