UPDATE: Leduc RCMP on scene of fatal pedestrian collision Highway 2 north bound

Traffic is expected to be re-routed for several hours.

UPDATE — Leduc RCMP are on scene of a fatal pedestrian collision on Highway 2 northbound, south of the Highway 2A exit. Leduc RMCP Integrated Traffic Unit responded to the collision on Oct. 1, 2021 at approximately 6:45 a.m.

Traffic was being re-routed off of Highway 2 northbound at Glen Park Road. However, traffic flow on Highway 2 has resumed at Highway 2A.

Preliminary investigations reveal that a truck was driving north on Highway 2 when it appears to have collided with a female pedestrian in the driving lane.

The 31-year-old female pedestrian of Edmonton Alta., was declared deceased on scene.

The male driver of the truck, 50, and male truck passenger, 28, were not injured.

Leduc RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
