UPDATE: Leduc RCMP on scene of serious collision at intersection of Highway 2A and Highway 616

Both drivers were transported to hospital in serious condition; all lanes of travel now open.

Update:

At approximately 7:45 a.m., Leduc RCMP and emergency services responded to a two vehicle collision between a car and an SUV on Highway 2A between Township 483 and Highway 616.

The north bound car lost control and was struck by the south bound SUV. The 27-year-old driver of the car and the 47-year-old driver of the SUV were both transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. However, all lanes of travel are now open.

Traffic is expected to be diverted for several hours. Alternate travel routes are recommended.
