For one day only, area residents will have the chance to own a unique piece of art by a local Pigeon Lake artist - until next year, at least.
The 32nd annual Pigeon Lake Artists' Society (PLAS) art exhibit and sale will be held June 7 at the Village Creek Country Inn from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The society currently has nine members - all from the Pigeon Lake area - with talents ranging from water colour to acrylic, oil, drawing, and a metal artist as well.
"Our nine artists are very different," said PLAS member Brenda Nelson who takes care of the society's social media.
"The subject matter will be diverse too: landscapes, animals, abstract, surrealism," said Nelson.
There will also be a special feature exhibit of 12x12 paintings with Pigeon Lake and area as the them.
For this, each artist has completed four to five images on 12x 2 inch Canadian birch panels that will be sold separately for $250 each.
"This has always been a hit with the public," said Nelson.
All the member artists will be at the sale.
PLAS is a registered non-profit. A percentage of the sales goes to the society.
They also give a scholarship of $300 to a student from Pigeon Lake Regional High School.
Nelson said PLAS awards the scholarship every year, but hasn't receive any applicants yet. If there aren't any soon, the society will consider something else, such as donating art supplies to the school.
