At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Dec. 2, 2020, Maskwacis RCMP were called to investigate two residential structure fires on the Montana First Nation, Alta.
The Fire Department was able to extinguish the flames, however, the fire damage to the homes was extensive and they couldn’t be saved. Both residences were empty at the time.
Police conducted an investigation and determined that the fires were suspicious.
Maskwacis RCMP learned that a video of the fire may have been posted to the social media app SnapChat, however the video was quickly deleted. Police are asking anyone who has seen the video to contact Maskwacis RCMP.
It is believed the video was posted on Dec. 2, 2020 between 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. and that a large group of people have seen the video.
The investigation into the fires is ongoing and police are working alongside Fire Investigators.
