The Maskwacis-Wetaskiwin NDP Constituency Association held a 'Potluck and Politics' event at the Ma-Me-O Beach Beach Community Hall on March 1.
"It was very well attended by locals as well as folks from as far away as Barrhead and Calgary," said Susan Kokas, the association's executive communications director.
"Farmers, seniors, teachers, and business owners had the opportunity to hear and speak to a dynamic roster of guest speakers."
Chief Desmond Bull of the Louis Bull Band spoke about reconciliation, Indigenous solar projects and green energy.
NDP MLA Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse spoke about the importance of water and conservation to all Albertans, as did author and former NDP candidate Kevin Van Tighem.
Tighem had some of his books on display after a presentation on the effects of coal on our water from the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
NDP MLA Heather Sweet, the deputy House Leader for the NDP in the Legislature, discussed the UCP budget and how it affects every Albertan.
"The food was as plentiful and diverse as rural Albertans, and it showed how food connects us all," said Kokas.
