A Millet resident is facing multiple charges after being caught with a sawed-off shotgun in Wetaskiwin.

RCMP say a crime reduction unit officer was on patrol shortly after 3 a.m. on March 30 when they saw a man known to police, sitting in a truck at the 56 street 7-Eleven in Wetaskiwin. The individual was under a court-imposed court and was several hours in violation of that release condition. Police arrested him and searched the truck, finding a brown duffle bag with both a sawed-off shotgun and replica firearm inside.

Tristan Favel, 32, of Millet, is charged with possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, possession of firearm in a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, unsafe storage of firearms, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of firearm with tampered serial number and two counts of failure to comply with release order conditions.

"Favel was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for April 22, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin," said RCMP media relations manager Troy Savinkoff.
