A new playground at Mulhurst Bay has been completed. In 2019 a group of citizens from Mulhurst Bay joined together to create the Mulhurst Bay Revitalization Plan which prepared several initiatives to meet the changing needs and goals of the Mulhurst Bay community. One of these initiatives was the development of a new playground at Mulhurst Bay.

This group presented their Mulhurst Bay Revitalization Plan to Wetaskiwin County Council on Aug. 13, 2019.

In the 2020 Recreation Budget, County Council approved the funding for the Mulhurst Bay playground, parking lot and drainage. The COVID-19 pandemic and a wet spring delayed initial construction of the playground, however, on Sept. 28, 2020 construction officially began.

The playground portion of the project was completed Oct. 9, 2020.

Excavation of the site was completed by Park N’ Play, installation of the boarder and sand was completed by County Public Works, Agricultural Service and Parks Staff.

The parking lot and drainage for the playground is currently under review and the final design is set to be completed in November with site preparation to follow.

The County of Wetaskiwin would like to thank the Mulhurst Bay Revitalization Committee members Kate Brown, Ken Adair, Catherine Peirce, Randal Kay, and Richard Conrad for their assistance and support on the playground project.
