Performances of the stage production Forty-Two Acres are on now at the Manluk Theatre.
The play is a fictional retelling of the true story of Harvey and Elsie Jespersen, the founders of Bethany Homes for Children.
"Beginning in 1948 to 1991, the Jespersen’s transformed 42 acres of land into a place of refuge," states the Manluk Theatre website.
" With unwavering faith, open hearts, and the help of countless others, they provided care to more than 750 children, changing lives through the healing power of prayer, music, and love."
The production, written and directed by Miranda Hamer, is an adaptation of the the book, Save My Children: The Story of A Father’s Love by Emily Wierenga.
