Kashton Fearious Bull, 24, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm contrary to an order and four other weapons-related offences.
He had a court date on Jan. 9, 2025, but it was adjourned for the defence to consult with the Crown. The accused was not present.
A pre-trial conference has now been scheduled for Feb. 10, 2025, at the Wetaskiwin Court of Justice.
On Aug. 7, Maskwacis RCMP responded to a shooting in front of a residence in Louis Bull.
Emergency workers tended to a 15-year-old victim that had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was flown to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.
Shooting in Gwynne
Gwynne, Alta. resident Brent Greenwall, 51, is facing several charges including assaulting a police officer, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and various weapons offences
He was scheduled to enter an election and plea on Jan. 28 in Wetaskiwin, however, the matter was adjourned until Feb. 11.
On Aug. 22, 2024, a male was dropped off at the Wetaskiwin hospital after suffering several gunshot wounds.
Officers determined the incident had occurred in Gwynne (a community 11 kilometres east of Wetaskiwin).
Police conducted search warrants at a property in Gwynne part of their investigation, reportedly seizing a handgun and ammunition.
During the first search warrant, the occupant of the property, Greenwall, allegedly became combative with police and was arrested.
He was arrested and was initially charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm when unauthorized and three counts of breaching release conditions.
After further investigation and a second search warrant, Greenwall was additionally charged with discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, and other weapons-related offences.
Ermineskin murder
Brianna Lindsay Ruf-Deitz of Red Deer, 35, is accused of accused of the first/second degree murder of Tyler Johnson, 26, of Grande Prairie.
The case had been delayed several times. A trial continuation was scheduled for Feb. 3, 2025, at the Edmonton Court of King's Bench, but has now been rescheduled for March 4 to 7, 2025.
A warrant for committal was issued for Ruf-Deitz was issued on Feb. 6, 2025.
Johnson’s remains were found in a burned-down house near Ermineskin Cree Nation on March 8, 2021.
Omeasoo murder
Chervaine Dean Saddleback, 24, charged with second degree murder, has a court date on Feb. 13, 2025 at the Wetaskiwin Court of Justice to set a date.
On Jan. 28, 2024, Maskwacis RCMP was called to assist EMS with a 25-year-old man, who was then transported to hospital where he was declared deceased.
An autopsy determined that the manner of death was a homicide.
On Sept. 28, 2024, RCMP arrested Saddleback for the murder of Wyatt Omeasoo. Both the victim and the accused were residents of Maskwacis.
