On May 31, at 2:56 p.m., the Ponoka RCMP detachment received a report of a stabbing at the Leland Hotel on Chipman Avenue.
The call resulted in a full response from the detachment, including the deployment of a police dog, according to media relations officer Cpl. Troy Savinkoff.
Two suspects were located at a nearby convenience store and taken into custody, said Savinkoff.
Kendrick Peigan, 32, a resident of Maskwacis, and Michael Peigan, 26, a resident of Wetaskiwin, have both been charged with aggravated assault and other additional charges.
They were taken before a justice of the peace and have been remanded for court.
The victim, a 27-year-old victim of Maskwacis, was transported to hospital. It was last reported the victim was in stable condition and was expected to recover, said Savinkoff.
"In this particular incident, it looks like the individuals were known to each other."
