Rev your engines: Snowmobile drag races set for this weekend

Get ready to hear the rumble and watch some true snow speed this weekend when the 3rd annual Snowmobile Drag Races take off Saturday Feb. 4, 2023.

Races begin at noon just north of Wetaskiwin. Watchers and racers can find the racing location by heading north of Wetaskiwin on Highway 2A to Township Road 470, turn west onto Township Road 470 and follow the posted signs to for parking.

If you are wanting to test out your speed there is still time to register to race, with pre-registration closing at noon on Friday and day of registration taking place at the track Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Pre-registration can be found at www.racessra.com.

There will be three different age categories of competitors including youth (up to age 12), junior class (ages 12 to 16), and adult (ages 16 and up).

Kids 10 and under can watch the races for free and anyone ages 11 and up will have a $10 admission fee.

At the races an announcer will be present for entertainment and giving information about the racers and their sleds and a food booth to feed and warm bellies out in the winter weather.

Races will run approximately to 4 p.m.
